Western Australia's planning authorities are fielding an average of 25 phone calls and 50 emails a day from landholders, confused over the state's new Aboriginal heritage laws.

Gabby Petersen is a second-year midwifery student and First Nations woman with Aboriginal, Torres Strait and Samoan heritage. "I'm the eldest of three girls, I have two younger sisters and I think my mum has a little bit of birth trauma, and that inspires me to be that midwife to make sure people have safe experiences," she said.
